The fun of bidding can easily turn to frustration when you find yourself missing out on vehicles you had high hopes of winning. That is why we have put together some of our top tips that we think may help increase your chances of winning the vehicles you are after at auction.
Here are some ways to up your chances of winning:
1. Attend more live auctions.
Pre-bidding is convenient, but there's no guarantee that the high pre-bidder will stay on top when the live auction rolls around. In fact, if you're the high pre-bidder but a live auction bidder matches your bid, the tie goes to the live auction start. Joining live auctions also allows you to see final sale price of items.
2. Get acquainted with the new VB3.
Attend an auction online or through our mobile app, and you'll see a redesigned auction experience. Get familiar with the new system.
3. Simply Observe
There’s no harm in simply watching an auction to get an idea of how the auction works. Once you’re comfortable with the format of the auction and you find the vehicle you are after, you can get bidding!
4. Understand the difference between pure sale, on approval and minimum bid.
Our newer Members may not understand why they didn't necessarily win an item outright if they were the high bidder. Chances are, they were bidding on approval-required or minimum-bid vehicles and needed to work out the final price with the Seller. Pure sale items, on the other hand, don't have minimums or require approvals.
5. Be Prepared
If at all possible, try logging into your account and joining an auction just before the start. That way there’s no last minute rush to login and get set up. In that time
6. Keep an eye on time estimates
Time estimates are great for giving you an idea of when a vehicle is going to appear ‘on the block’ however we recommend you use this as a guide. Be sure to frequently check where your vehicle appears on the list, that way you wouldn’t run the risk of missing the vehicle.
