Every now and then, a few special vehicles pop up in Copart UK auctions that really turn heads. We call them "Star Cars" – the ones that get car enthusiasts buzzing. From supercars to old-school icons, here are some of our favourites from this year.
1. 2017 Nissan GT-R (R35)
The R35 GT-R has long been the darling of JDM fans and track-day lovers. With its 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 producing 565bhp and 467 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive, it's still more than capable of embarrassing much newer cars in its class. Despite missing a front wheel, this fabulous example reminded us why the GT-R remains a modern classic: brutal acceleration, digital wizardry, and that unmistakable stance.
2. 2020 Lamborghini Aventador
You don’t need to be a petrolhead to recognise a Lamborghini Aventador. With its spaceship styling and naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 producing 759bhp and 531 lb-ft of torque, this 2020 model was pure theatre. This particular example was one of our most viewed motors on social media, so we had to share it with you. Even Mat Armstrong took an interest when it went up on our social media channel in May of last year!
3. 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera OHMSS Edition
As far as movie homage cars go, often they can be a bit rubbish in real life. Looking at you, DeLorean. Not this one though. This one hits all the right notes, and we’re not just talking about the engine. The 2019 DBS Superleggera OHMSS Edition combined movie nostalgia with real-world muscle, thanks to its 715bhp V12 and that classic Aston silhouette. This limited-edition Aston Martin paid tribute to On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, with that classic Bond look. It’s a real beauty. Like Bond, everything about this DBS exudes class.
4. 1985 Ford Escort RS Turbo
Some serious rally heritage incoming now. Seeing this car in person just hits different. For the fan of rally cars, it's difficult to describe what it's like to be in the presence of a car that has won so much. It’s like the WRX Scooby. Old school never goes out of style, and this '85 RS Turbo proves it. A proper blast from the past, it has boxy lines, boosty performance and a serious dose of 1980s rally swagger. We were happy to see this go through our auction.
5. 2017 Porsche 911 GT3
If you love naturally aspirated engines and sharp handling, the GT3 is hard to beat. This 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 drew a lot of attention on social media, with its 4.0-litre flat-six and razor-sharp chassis being major selling points. Although it had some minor damage, we still love seeing these when they come through our auctions. You all do as well, it seems, as this was a really popular car when it went up in June of last year.
