Here at Copart, we work in partnership with some of the UK’s top insurance and automotive companies to provide our Members with the very best selection of vehicles.
Amongst our wide variety of accident damaged cars, vans, motorcycles and more, we also provide a unique selection of flood damaged cars.
What makes Copart flood damaged vehicles so unique?
We hold an exclusive contract with decontamination specialist Polygon to decontaminate vehicles which have been subject to smoke and flood damage and which would benefit from the restoration service - providing great value to buyers.
The Polygon process is patented, meaning that you will not find flood damaged vehicles decontaminated to a food hygiene standard, anywhere else in the UK.

So, how does it work?
- Flood damaged vehicles come into Copart from a number of our insurance partners.
- Using a set of pre-defined criteria, vehicles which will benefit from the decontamination process are selected by Copart and sent on to Polygon.
- Polygon then completes the decontamination and drying process before delivering the vehicles back to Copart, ready for their auctions.
- If the vehicle sells, we will provide the buyer with the Polygon reports including images of before and after the process, how the vehicle was decontaminated, bacteria test results and if there are any outstanding issues with the vehicle. (Reports are provided upon request).
What does the Polygon process involve?
The Polygon process involves the disassembly of all vehicles, including the removal of carpets, upholstery and trim to allow further assessment and decontamination. Parts deemed in need of decontamination will be removed from the vehicle for decontamination. The vehicle will then be placed into a humidity and heat-controlled environment to prevent further deterioration of the vehicle and prevent bacteria growth.
After the process, the vehicle will receive a full quality check and bacteria test before arriving back at Copart.
Read more about the process on Polygon’s website.
How will I know if a vehicle has been through the Polygon process?
On the Search Results pages, you will see the following icon under the year of manufacture.
It will also be visible in the Lot Highlights section where it can be clicked to display further information.
