What does HGV mean?
HGV stands for Heavy Goods Vehicle. It can also be referred to as an LGV, Large Goods Vehicle. HGV and LGV are both terms used to describe all vehicles over 3.5 tonnes (3500kg), such as; flatbed lorries, refrigerated lorries and trucks, box vans, and tippers. These cannot be driven under a standard driving licence; you would need to get specialist training to get your HGV licence.
