We can confirm that we have deployed our Copart Mobile Response Unit to Liverpool, to assist with the aftermath of this serious fire which broke out at the Echo Arena multi-storey car park on New Year’s Eve.

Following notification of the fire, which left around 1,400 vehicles burnt out or severely damaged we began our response on New Year’s Day, deploying the Copart Response Unit to Liverpool to manage the recovery, assessment and handling of all damaged vehicles, and have already processed over 20 vehicles. We continue to work with the local authority and the insurers affected by this incident and support the efficient processing of these vehicles.

The Copart Response Unit, which was first introduced in 2016, is a mobile ‘pop-up facility’, which is fully equipped to carry out all necessary tasks at the scene of a catastrophic incident. It has an on-board petrol 240-volt generator, PC’s with 4G access and hand-held receiving devices which enable vehicles to be imaged and processed quickly on-site.

Operations Director, Simon Sheldon-Wilson, said: “We have well-established plans for dealing with major incidents on behalf of UK motor insurers. With over 200 salvage transporters and specialist equipment, along with a UK wide network of Operations Centres, we are well placed to respond to this incident. The Copart Response Unit enables us to assist motor insurers in rapidly resolving policy holder claims, minimising the disruption for all of those who have lost their vehicle as a result of the fire”.
